Now I’m curious - what were your thoughts on New Year’s Eve Y2K? It doesn’t sound like you were in a bunker surrounded by MREs and pallets of toilet paper. Perhaps you had optimism that the new year would dawn as just another new day?

That's an honest and interesting look at New Years from different years, people and places. I enjoy knowing you better, Ken. Thank you for writing and sharing this.

Happy New Year!

Ken:

I’m glad you continue to write. I’ve seen you comment on John Kass columns. That why I subscribed here.

I moved from Chicago to Springfield,IL in 87.

You can’t get a good NY’s eve countdown down here.

Thanks, Raymond. I’ve seen you on John’s page too.

Glad you’re out of the city. Glad I’m out too, although I’d like to be out of the state altogether. As for the countdowns, last night’s was no different. Wait until the last second after 5 minutes of commercials and drift off to someplace else within 5 minutes after. Dick Clark must be rolling a bit. It’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve…what does Chicago give as a host ? A RAPPER 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. WGN at least showed fireworks over the river. They disappeared right after that was done though. For a city like Chicago with its number of personalities and that at one time actually had some local coverage of happenings around town, last night was a disgrace.
