I’m so happy you shared this! There’s something special about sharing a part of the high school us, isn’t there?

So long ago, yet in some ways, it feels like yesterday.

I feel proud to know we write in a similar poetry style, Ken. Your poem was a pleasure to read and I can understand how you made your female classmates swoon! They probably didn't know boys were in touch with the gentler side and able to write about love. That's catnip to most high school girls. Thank you for including me!

Thanks, CJ 😊😊🙏🙏

I was so excited when I found it. From day one it was something I wanted to share with you. Unfortunately it was so long ago I couldn’t remember the whole thing, except the first and last line. I remember composing in the library of 8th period study hall.

You’ve been a writer/poet for a lot of years! Did you know then you were going to continue to write? Have you always loved writing?

Ken Macko's avatar

Had no idea. In fact, even when I joined up here I wasn’t sure where it would go. I had interest here and there, but other than school, never put pen to paper.

Did you always love writing? How long have you been here on Substack?

Ken Macko's avatar

Not really. Been here a little over 2 years.

That’s about as long as I have. I haven’t been able to find you over at Quora. Are you still there?

Bravo, Ken. When I was a senior in high school in 1966, I wouldn’t show my poems to anyone—Even I didn’t cry!
